I was virtually browsing bookstore shelves to support our local stores and remembered this had been a favorite book when I was a child and added it to my list. It holds up well, quite delightful.

This is one of the earliest books I can remember my mother reading to me. Fresh pajamas tucked into bed. I must have been 5 or 6. I own this book and it still gives me a happy warm feeling.

Very fun book to read out loud with the kids. I'm sure we'll return to it again. I loved the combination of nonsense and logic used to rescue the dragon.

This was such a delightful book. Gabriel could not get enough of it. We read half of it in one sitting and the other half in the next. It was a fun adventure story with nice pictures all throughout. Definitely a keeper.

I read this with my older kids a few years ago, and now with my younger ones. It's a great first chapter book, but I don't love all of the talk of killing and eating the child, especially since it's clearly a book for young children. Just feels a bit grim.
