This was an acid trip of a book. Unique writing style which at times I thought "right on, man" and others I thought "oh no". Lots of slurs (n-word, m-word, Chinamen, etc) which really felt uncomfortable and no longer right on. Much of this book dragged on, when the plot started to pick up, a new character would be introduced and we'd go on a long tangent. I'm going to have to read some literary analysis to understand what I just read.

Skaityti „Breakfast of Champions“ – vienas malonumas, o kitos jo knygos pasistūmėjo į „reikia perskaityti“ sąrašo viršų. http://www.jauti.lt/tarp-lentynu-v/

Because of the era it was written, I couldn’t get over some of the lingo and racism and misogyny and homophobia and ableism in this book. The absurdist and crude humor also wasn’t my cup of tea. Yes I know it’s satirical. But I still found this book to be dated and difficult to enjoy. One merit it has is its adept exercise of imagination and creativity.

Still up and away one of my favorite writing styles. Not his best, but certainly elevated by the unfocused, self aware narrator, and the consequences that ensue as a result.
