This is a beautiful book of friendship between the unlikely pair of dog and frog. Large-size watercolors document their antics together through three seasons, but when winter comes we need to use our inference skills to understand why frog doesn't show up to play one day. Tender and bittersweet.

A sweet story about friendship and loss. It is a picture book that has the perfect combination of heart-warming story and beautiful illustrations that add to the emotion of the story.

For: animal fans; readers wanting a book that shows death in a delicate but emotional way.

Possible red flags: character death; sadness.

This is a really different story from my favorite author Mo Willems. Again, there is a friendship between two unlike animals-- and this is Caleb's new favorite. It came in our last package from Grandmom and Grandpop. But he always reminds me, "Winter is the poorest..."
My first graders also know, this is a "circle story"--although if you ask me, it is really more like a spiral story.

odd combination of talent I think. Love them both, but seperately more than together I think.

Beautiful art and a wonderful, albeit sad, story about friendship and moving on.

A sadly sweet story of friendship and the cycle of life. Willems' gentle text merges beautifully with Muth's soft paintings. A good book to share with children in times of sadness.
