Couldn’t keep going. Too many good books to read.
Harlan Coben writes a forward to this book warning readers that it was written about 20 yrs ago and so might not be the best of his books. I don't think he needed to do that. I loved this book, did not find it dated at all and still somewhat relevant in today's world. Politics and medicine, does it ever change? The mystery was good and I did not know up until the end who was responsible for the murders of the AIDS patients. Another good book by one of my favourite authors.

I should have followed the instructions of the preface and not read it. I love Harlan Coben, he's one of my favorite mystery authors. I don't know the story behind this book, other than surmising that he wrote it 20 years ago and they just republished it as a "new release".... why? Why would you let them republish something you didn't think was up to par? I lost a bit of respect for the author over this one. I seem to be in the minority here, so maybe it's just me. Generally I enjoy picking up his books and I breeze through them -- this one took effort, some skimming, some wincing ("ride me like a stallion" - seriously?) it was a bit Daniel Steelish for my taste, very disappointed!
This took me a while to finish. Now I'm regretting I didn't read this sooner. Harlan Coben, as always, has outdone himself. He just keeps getting better. Or maybe I was just too a fool to notice who's responsible for the killings. But the book was too good I couldn't stop reading when I was nearly three-fourths of the entirety already.
One of Harlan's earlier books, perhaps not to much mystery as his more recent, but still a strong story with a little surprise at the end. All things are tied up quite nicely.
Took me back to when HIV/AIDS was in the news, and fear was widespread - nice to think how far society has moved on. Clever story about a possible cure, the struggles of a clinic and connected murders.
An Upper Manhattan's West Side a doctor has dedicated his life to eradicating a devastating disease, but one by one his patients are being cured and one by one they're being murdered
Great thriller about murders connected to an AIDS clinic. It's a little dated since it's from the early '90s, but intersting to also see what things haven't progressed since then.
My least favorite Coben book by far, but to be fair, he basically tells you this will be the case in the author's note at the beginning. It has a good story, and I thought the villain/ ending was unexpected, but it was very S.L.O.W. moving. (Coben explains how this is one of his first books and that he knows it has flaws, but he loves it anyway.)
What I found very interesting, was the attitude about AIDS and homosexuality in the 90s, and how far we've really come.
Worth it if you're a die-hard Coben fan, but otherwise, I'd skip it for his Myron Bolitar series.
