my first book from this author.
I really enjoyed it!
mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

This is a very dated AIDS plot "thriller", with a lot of preaching, which Coben admits to. However, I thought the writing was really lame, and I can see how he has improved. I wondered as I read where his editor was - must have been napping, because this should have never made it to press. Too many first writer mistakes, such as laying out all of the author's thought processes through a character, i.e. going through all of the potential holes in the plot and using that as part of the story.

Not my favorite Coben novel, to be sure.

I typically enjoy his work as an easy mystery read. But this one was just horrible (and he did preface it but saying it was one of his first books to write.) Too Scooby Dooed for my taste. Bleh. No.
