God I love these books!! Whatever Deanna Raybourn puts in these books is addictive. This one may be a close second to book 4 in terms of favorites. I can't wait to jump into the next one!

I've been enjoying this series so much. This one gives us another bit of Veronica's past to fill in some more of her story, while spinning another fun mystery. The relationship between Veronica and Stoker continues to delight with their sizzle and fun repartee.

Content warnings: theft, colonialism, death of a friend (in the past), animal death, misogyny, kidnapping

I love this series and these characters more than I can say. This one was, perhaps, a tad less cheerful than the others in the series if only because of a character who's introduced that has an impact of Veronica and Stoker's relationship. Anyway, that aside, the mystery in this was definitely compelling and full of twists and turns. I definitely didn't see the ending coming, and I'm definitely going to be picking up the next book in the series sooner rather than later!

Continuing this series but honestly it’s going slightly downhill or maybe the novelty has worn off. I still like the characters but it’s gotten a little repetitive. I still enjoyed it but found myself thinking of what book I was going to read next and wanting to move on.
