I wish this book went more into detail about HOW Sibby killed get father and escaped the cult, we never get a complete story about her past which frustrated me.

This was a pretty good book. It’s short, so there isn’t a lot of depth. There are some disturbing body horror scenes, so be aware. It didn’t feel super meaningful to me, like I didn’t get attached to the characters.

I read Haunting Adeline first because I didn’t know this book existed. With that being said, this was a short backstory for a character I actually grew to love in the duet. The first chunk of this is torture porn, pretty literally. I skimmed through the gore and most of everything except Sibby’s backstory and the very end. I’m not sure if reading this before the duet would be better or worse, but I am glad to at least have some insight into her character.
