I really enjoyed beginning to learn about Sibby’s past and how she came to be this character. I did wish that this was longer and had more details but overall loved the book.

I was unfortunately spoiled for the plot twist pretty on, so I think I would have enjoyed this a lot more if I didn't know the twist. However I still thought it was enjoyable and will be reading the next book!

Wow. I’m literally in awe. This book was CRAZY to say the least. The ending… omg. What an amazing ending.

I’m so excited to start Haunting Adeline. Zade was such a “fun” character to read. I’m so glad I started with this book.

This is definitely the darkest book I’ve read so far and honestly at first I thought to myself “maybe I do have some triggers.” But I think this book lowkey shines a light of some terrible things that go on literally everyday. Very realistic in a way.

I loved the “magical” aspect to this. Not in sense of light fairytale or fantasy. More so like haunting and horror like. It felt whimsical in a way.

I actually loved it. I love the ending, and I’ll definitely be reading more about Sibby. She’s so intriguing.

4.0 rating right now only because I wasn’t prepared for how dark it was. I’ve read dark romance before but NOTHING quite like this. But I’m not even mad about it because EVERYONE talks about how dark H.D’s books are. I already knew lol.

“The outsiders— people that think they’re normal— they don’t understand people like us. We see the world for what it is. This Earth is layered, just like an onion, and we’re only living in one of those layers. Us— we see the other layers. The energies that exist in this world and all the ugly and evil that comes alongside it. These layers are thin and strong entities can walk through the cracks, into other layers and wreak havoc."

The interwebs suggested to read this before Haunting Adeline, and this novella is one of the best things I've read in a long while. It has haunted houses, cult trauma, slasher vibes, it's psychological, gorey - just perfect.

Sibby's a psychotic murderer whose sole mission is to rid the world of evil to save her flowers. I really enjoyed her character and thought process. Her upbringing in a cult suuuuper fucked her up and the scenes with her mom were so sad.

"But what hurt most is knowing that I spent the entire night staring at my mother’s dead body and never even realized it."
.
.
.
"But you can’t silence heartbreak. It’s loud and painful. Even after you grieve and heal, it lingers in the background, sliding back into your life just when you think you’ve overcome it."

Like, just IMAGINE psychological damage....

This was wonderfully written and I think I just found a new favorite author.
