Was this a literary masterpiece? Not really.
But did it make me feel things I haven’t felt in a long time? Yes. I’m so glad I read this right now. I needed a cute romance and I did not mind the setting at all.

This series so far has made me feel so many emotions. I love and hate the MMC at the same time but am always pleased with the ending. I love the banter between the characters, I find myself laughing out loud at times, having to hold back tears, and wanting to yell at fictional characters tears in frustration with their stubbornness lol. But I have to say I have enjoyed this series and cannot wait to read the last two books as they ready for war with the Nightfall Queen and hopefully rend past friendships in the process.

May contain spoilers!!!!!

This is the 2nd book in the king of Avaliers series. Cailoni is ripped from her homeland of nightfall kingdom, all because she borrowed 5 gold coins she knew she couldn’t pay back for medicine for her only surviving family her aunt who suffers with seizures, her mother died in childbirth and her elven father was murdered by the nightfall evil queen. After being taken by the slave traders and taken to the elf king. On arrival to the castle and after meeting mrs tirth the slace traders tries to get frisky with Cailoni she breaks his nose and knees him in the crotch, the bowmen take her and she’s placed in a room with a hooded figure, slightly worried she had hoped to return to university to complete her studies in medicine. The figure this no other than the elf king Raife Lightstone. After completing a written test in three languages the king offers her a job as his personal assistant and food taster and must take a vow of no harm.

After a small amount of time being a personal assistant both Raife and Cailoni save the life of a child who was slowly being poisoned by the nefarious deeds of the nightfall queen, its is discovered by Raife that Cailoni is an empath and soon after helping save another, she is called blessed. The king must take a wife or be removed from the throne.

Both Raife and Cailoni, make a plan for a “fake” marriage between them, so that Raife may build his army and seek vengeance against the evil queen who poisoned his whole family, but what they both were not expecting was to fall in love.

They help save and bring Cailoni aunt from nightfall, her seizures and found to be from a growth on her brain. And the kings begins healing her.

Raife goes to rally the other kings and while he’s gone the evil queen attacks, Cailoni rally the people to keep them safe and makes a plan to help destroy their enemies, with minimal losses the whole kingdom joins their queen leading them to a small victory. That is when Raife realises he cannot live without her and admits his feelings to her.

I loved this story even tho it’s not really a continuation of the previous story it’s a series of standalone with different main characters but the story comes together to make it a series and although it’s more for the older side of YA it’s still a lovely story and you cannot help becoming invested with it and cannot wait to read the next book the ruthless Fae king

The Broke Elf King (Kings of Avalier #2)

I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

Do you love a book that:

✨Royalty
✨Strong FMC
✨Fake Marriage
✨Rags — Riches
✨Magic

THOUGHTS:

This book was a great read. When I received this, I went ahead and read #1 and this book was just as good. I thought that the characters were well developed, the world building was good and the storyline was there and well written. This book left on such a cliffhanger than I have to read book #3 now.

This book has just the perfect amount/sprinkle of romance, you have the wonderful fantasy that you look for in the authors books as well as action/adventure and magic. I definitely recommend reading book #1 before reading book #2 but this is a good one for the TBR.

1: These descriptions really don’t do these books any sort of justice. They’re so much deeper than what’s in that short blurb.
2: Whew that guy really is broken. I’m not thrilled with the waffling back and forth, but I’m definitely going to admit that you don’t just poof get over it suddenly so it needs to be there.
3: I love Kailani. Her spark is amazing, her soft heart is ever better.

Enjoyed this one over the first book in the series. The strong FMC was really well done. I enjoyed her ability to have strong emotional powers and have the ability of the blessed granting her the ability to give (and take) life. The romance was cute and felt a little too much some times but that’s to be expected in a romantasy.
