Just finished this book rn and Oh. My. HEART. This is that kind of book you pick up, read a few pages, and immediately know—this is going to stay with me. I mean, talk about emotional rollercoasters! I loved every bit of this story, and it just shot to the top of my Catharina's favorites.
So here’s the setup: Alanna, heartbroken and looking for a little payback, decides to go after her ex’s older brother, Silas. Simple revenge, right? Except… he’s her new boss, and there’s this mysterious connection between them that’s way more than a fling. Silas remembers things about her that she can’t, and suddenly the story dives into this beautiful, heart-wrenching past that Alanna has forgotten. Yes, we’re talking an amnesia trope—completely unexpected but SO perfectly done here.
And can we talk about Silas and Alanna? The chemistry between them is off the charts. From their inside jokes to shared phrases and those sweet, intimate moments, every scene between them just makes you melt. Their bond feels so real and so deep that I was rooting for them every step of the way. I first got intrigued by them back when they were mentioned in Professor Astor, and this book absolutely delivered on every hope I had.
Why this book is EVERYTHING:
- Childhood Friends to Lovers
- Amnesia Twist
- Angst and Chemistry
- Inside Jokes & Phrases
- Emotional Depth
Honestly, if you love romance with unforgettable chemistry, heartfelt connections, and a storyline that keeps you turning pages, this is a MUST. It’s hands-down my favorite from Catharina Maura so far, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a story that’ll stay with you long after you turn the last page.

This was almost a 4 star but Part 1 (the past) gave me the heebie-jeebies. At the very beginning Alana is 13 almost 14 and she just lost her mother. At the cemetery she meets Silas an 18 year old who just lost his dad. His comments on her beauty were inappropriate and that just gave me the kick. She was 13! They met again 2 years later at the homeless shelter she he lives and she volunteers. They flirt for another 2 years. Once she is legal he acts on his feelings. Nice but still didn't erase the ick from their original ages. One day they have a fight and when she storms off into the rain, tragedy strikes.
Part 2 (the present - 5 years later)
Silas is a rich CEO of a high security firm he founded. And he has been looking for Alana ever since she walked out. What are the odds she is applying at his company! Crazy coincidence!
Even crazier when she shows up at has his house for family dinner on the arm of has brother! Dun dun dun!
She lost her memories in a car accident 5 years ago. She doesn't remember Silas or anything took before the accident. His half brother Ryan is most definitely his step mom's pawn. Silas wants to be close to his brother but Mona is a crazy bitch. She keeps pitting Ryan against Silas all for money. Classic motivation.
There are a lost of bumps in the road for Silas and Alana but their love will persevere in the end.
