Thank you to Rebecca Hefner for allowing me to listen to a copy of this book. I loved reading about Tor and Esme's story and seeing more of the mortal world. And I still love seeing glimpses of Sathan and Miranda's story, especially given Tor's relationship with them (trying not to spoil things so I'm going to keep it vague). And the reference to Ardor Creek has me gasping, but also smiling. This whole book had me kicking my feet and squealing. I love this series so much and I'm so sad that my experience with it will be over soon.

I’m loving this new generation of EE!

This book had so much soul and I couldn’t put it down! It was fantastic!

Expect mystery, tragedy, new discoveries and a sweet romance between a damaged yet strong FMC and a vulnerable and hot MMC as they navigate their way through finding their place on Earth.

The updates from the older characters will also warm your heart and the new discoveries and build up will leave you anxious for the next installment, which I’m super excited for!

(I won’t leave spoilers for the next installment here but oh my gosh I’d been hoping the MMC in the next book gets his HEA and I’m tickled pink to see what happens!)

I received an advance review copy of this book for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily!

THE DIPLOMATIC HEIR arriving on my kindle just before Christmas was the perfect present! I absolutely adore the Etherya’s Earth series and love seeing how the characters progress with every book. Esme is the half-elf daughter of the Elf King Dakarath, who has pledged to eliminate all half-human elves from existence in the name of elf blood purity. In Esme’s case, he murdered her mother Diana, but left her alive, tormenting her for a thousand years and killing everyone close to her. To say that this has left Esme with fears of forming a bond with anyone new is an understatement. I loved Esme. She’s fierce, determined and set on her goal of infiltrating the US government with supernaturals. I was also sooo excited to see Tordor getting his book! One thing I love about this series is getting to see the couples grow, and their children grow up and Tordor, son of Miranda and Sathan, is all grown up and ready for his own HEA. Except… he is the prince who is supposed to become King one day and he doesn’t want to rule. Oops. I loved watching the romance between him and Esme. His gentleness was the perfect counterbalance for her hard edge as they get closer to their goal and are met by pushback from Dakarath at every turn. Some interesting twists as we find out more about Esme’s past. I loved the Miranda/Sathan scenes and what we learned there! This was another wonderful book in the series and I was excited to read the teaser excerpt for the next book. I can’t wait! 5/5 stars.

Esme had a lot to overcome and I think Tordor did a great job of helping her realize that she no longer has to be alone and he will support her no matter what happens. I really enjoyed the layers of the story and the cameos were delightful.

I was excited to see more of Tordor. We got little snippets of him in Calinda’s book. Esme had it rough. Her dad basically hates her because he messed up. He spends all his time torturing her. Tordor is such a sweetie. He’s the perfect match for Esme. I loved watching her walls come down.
