First let me say this is really Christian. Way more than I would normally read but it touches on some of the deep issues with the church as a whole like misuse of power, body shaming and the horrible failure of purity/abstinence culture. You won’t find any open door scenes. The characters do kiss and some closed door scenes do occur so if that makes you cringe then turn around now. Also homosexuality is discussed along with premarital conception. This story is definitely geared towards teen readers but can be appreciated as an adult.

When Meg finds out that her dad is not her dad, she sets off to find what is left of her real dad's family. In doing so, she learns so much about herself and finds her way.
Opinion
This book is for anyone whose church has wronged them by making them feel guilty for being human. Meg finds strength in her faith but is quite disappointed with the way her church treated her.
I think that this book will upset a lot of people but that it will also give many more hope.
I live in the Bible Belt (Southern United States) and cannot see this book being offered in any of our public schools. However, I can see where a lot of my students need books like this to help balance what their church preaches and what they are going through. Fault should not be placed on the females for human sexuality and emotions that come along with it. Males are just as much to blame.
This is a powerful book that is written along with a great plot. The story is endearing and the message is quite clear. I can only hope that this book finds its way into the right reader's hands.
Many thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an ARC of this book and many apologies for taking so long to read it. It was a delight to read.

Ok I really enjoyed this book but I felt like it took forever to read and I wish there was more to the two main love interests.

This story is very cute, but can get very heavy handed on the topics it is trying to discuss in a way that it can come off forceful in a way.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

Really religious. I was looking for more of an Eat Pray Love meets coming of age story. This was not the vibe.

The book was pretty good for a YA book but the religious theme the book had was heavy, especially for someone like me who don't necessarily believes in God. I can't say if the book accurately portraits the reality such christian teenagers have to go through since I have no experience of it. Overall the book reminded me of [a:Sarah Dessen|2987|Sarah Dessen|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1372181953p2/2987.jpg]'s books I used to read when I was a teen, apart from it being centered on Christianity. The two main characters were well developed imo and I liked learning about the side characters. The book cover makes you think it's a light hearted book with elements of romance and friendship but the books talks about some serious issues as well. That's why I'm only giving the book 3 stars.

I think the concept and the characters were there, but the writing let this book down. It was very fell good, cheesy in parts, and full of religiosity even as it was criticizing the same religion. Not my cup of tea.
