Taboo should be considered a modern classic of Australian literature. Difficult to read in parts, it's a thorny book which is astoundingly written by Kim Scott, who's work I desperately need to look more into. Heed the trigger warnings because this book can be a lot, but it's so worth it.

beautiful. touched my heart. really picks up its stride after the first 50 pages or so. the tangible presence of the land, its creatures, and its dust and rain, give a depth and richness to the Wirlomin homecoming that made me feel like I was coming home too.
