I liked the concept behind this book and I liked the author's writing style.
The sexual abuse in this book felt like it was exploitative/fetishizing of the victim. It didn't feel like the point was education of the reader or characters about sexual violence nor did the perpetrator understand their actions' harm or face major consequences.

Taboo should be considered a modern classic of Australian literature. Difficult to read in parts, it's a thorny book which is astoundingly written by Kim Scott, who's work I desperately need to look more into. Heed the trigger warnings because this book can be a lot, but it's so worth it.
