From the very beginning, this book hits you with the harsh realities of grief and it just keeps it up. I loved how real and raw the emotions and thoughts were as well as the sprinkling in of humor. I listened to this on audio and the narrator was fantastic. There were a few points when the characters' actions didn't really make sense to me, or just didn't sit right. Overall, a very good read.

This is my first book via Storygraph, inspired by representation (ie, not Besos) and nuance within SG's rating system. I appreciate protag Eve's self-awareness how she depends on people through her hurting and healing over her husband's Q's suicide. Grief may feel like an individual experience but hope is usually found in the collective.

Writing was a 5 but I’m reserving 5s for books I absolutely loved. This one was really well done and nearly there. Huge trigger warning to suicide in this book as the story centers around a woman who loses her husband to suicide and depicts her grief journey. I listened to the audiobook version and loved how well Adjoa Andoh narrated this book. She was truly acting and added so much to the emotional scenes. The writing was amazing and I loved the depictions of grief and the realistic portrayal of loss during this book. I’m lucky (knock on wood) that I haven’t experienced a lot of loss in my life, but this book made me think and consider so much more about grief and some of the relationships around me. It made me think about those who are in my corner and in my circle and the bounds of our relationships.

A bit of a trigger warning, of course from the book description this book is about a woman trying to cope after husband's suicide. For most of the book they just say that he committed suicide without details, but do end up going into detail of how he died.

While I think this book was very well done, it is trauma after trauma and may be hard for some people to read through.

Deeply moving and terribly sad. This book displays the rawness of grief in a stunning and real way. The peeks into Nigerian culture were fascinating and gave the novel depth it wouldn’t otherwise have. The author brings truth and honesty to the characters brilliantly.
