From the very beginning, this book hits you with the harsh realities of grief and it just keeps it up. I loved how real and raw the emotions and thoughts were as well as the sprinkling in of humor. I listened to this on audio and the narrator was fantastic. There were a few points when the characters' actions didn't really make sense to me, or just didn't sit right. Overall, a very good read.

This is my first book via Storygraph, inspired by representation (ie, not Besos) and nuance within SG's rating system. I appreciate protag Eve's self-awareness how she depends on people through her hurting and healing over her husband's Q's suicide. Grief may feel like an individual experience but hope is usually found in the collective.

Oof. Someday, Maybe is a beautifully written and challenging read. I had been warned as much by the friend who loaned me the book but when I saw it tagged as "funny" I decided to dive in.  This book had some humor, yes, but it is not a funny book. Nwabineli's writing is so well crafted that it it felt like I was actually in Eve's shoes and I had to stop multiple times because it was overwhelming. I am glad I've read it the once and will definitely read her next novel.

Here are three things you should know about this book:
  1. It will emotionally eviscerate you
  2. It is an absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching portrayal of grief
  3. The love of this family is endless
And one thing you should know about me
  1. I read this whole thing in less than a week
bonus fact: No, I am not okay

Deeply moving and terribly sad. This book displays the rawness of grief in a stunning and real way. The peeks into Nigerian culture were fascinating and gave the novel depth it wouldn’t otherwise have. The author brings truth and honesty to the characters brilliantly.
