Here are three things you should know about this book:
  1. It will emotionally eviscerate you
  2. It is an absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching portrayal of grief
  3. The love of this family is endless
And one thing you should know about me
  1. I read this whole thing in less than a week
bonus fact: No, I am not okay

A bit of a trigger warning, of course from the book description this book is about a woman trying to cope after husband's suicide. For most of the book they just say that he committed suicide without details, but do end up going into detail of how he died.

While I think this book was very well done, it is trauma after trauma and may be hard for some people to read through.

Wow - what a beautiful debut. It’s a very heavy read, suicide is mentioned on the first page (not a spoiler), so I’d recommend being in the right head space before picking it up. The descriptions of grief made it feel as if you were experiencing it too - and in some form or another, we’ve all dealt with grief. Despite it being a slow story, the writing kept me turning page after page to see what would happen next.

Deeply moving and terribly sad. This book displays the rawness of grief in a stunning and real way. The peeks into Nigerian culture were fascinating and gave the novel depth it wouldn’t otherwise have. The author brings truth and honesty to the characters brilliantly.
