characters had a lot of depth which i appreciated but i just couldn’t relate to their personal issues and relationship which made the book feel boring which i feel bad for saying buuuut oh well! i do think the author did a great job highlighting ppd and cte and how they affect mental health i just think this wasn’t for me!
I don't write reviews for everything I read these days. I'd be remiss if I didn't write down my thoughts on Jessica Peterson's new release, Southern Seducer. I've loved everything she's written and I've sensed a piece of her in every book. But Seducer truly feels like she opened up a vein and poured her heart and soul into it.
Peterson's main characters, Beau and Annabel are going through some very heavy stuff. While the topics are dense, postpartum depression and CTE, the story doesn't feel overwhelmingly angsty. I absolutely adored Beau and Annabel together...first as best friends and as stupid hot lovers. (It certainly helps that my Beau was JJ Watt.) SWOON.
I loved the WHOLE freaking Beauregard family and the setting of the North Carolina mountains. This is a series that I know I'll be completely obsessed with. Now...when will the next book be available?

Jessica Peterson wrote a story that is going to touch many parents, not just first time mums or dads. Having been through PND (Post Natal Depression) myself, I feel that Jessica did it justice in her writing. The feelings were so accurate that they took me back to almost 17 years ago where my run in with it took hold.
The love story and the characters within are a joy to read. I love Bel and Beau, they were two very real people who both have their issues to deal with and come out the other end of them to find happiness.
A beautiful story, with a beautiful ending.

Heart, humor and heat light up the canvas of a real southern charmer. Peterson makes it easy to fall in lust with her heroes, in love with her stories and become addicted to romance. Beau and Bel will have heartbreaker written all over your emotions. Southern Seducer is real life with a splash of fairytale magic to cushion the fall.

Review:
Beau and Annabel are Mid 30s and have been best friends for 17yrs with a sincere connection. Beau is a retired pro-footballer now running the Blue Mountain Farm Resort with his family. Annabel is divorced and decided to become a single mom and now has her cutie Maisie.
Even though I had a supportive helpful husband and village, I recognize a lot of myself in Annabel and really felt this read!
New mom. Emergency C-Section. PPD/PPA. The fears, overwhelm, new realities and struggles. Weird limbo and changes of your body. In a constant fog and survival mode. The grief and joy.
She comments on not loving pregnancy or being a mom but still loving your baby. And nothing prepares you for it, but it's a massive change. Your priorities and life vision can change. "Somethings changed in me. The fire I had to climb the corporate ladder doesn't burn nearly as brightly." All of this is 100% felt, experienced and agree.
Beau has medical issues that made him give from feeling like a whole man to a broken one. They both with depression but I love they had their friendship and found comfort and aid with each other. I love the natural growth of friends to lovers. Beau still sees the Annabel that's not just a mom, and when she's having a tough time he immediately jumps in to offer help and R&R at the resort. Truly a single mom seducer and swoonworthy!

I’m conflicted about this story.
I enjoyed Annabelle and Beau’s friendship. They were what the other needed at the right time. The spice level was definitely on the higher end. The email flashbacks did not really work for me. I also feel like for best friends, they sure kept things from each other. Overall, I did enjoy them.
I really loved the family dynamic of the Beauregard’s. I can’t wait for their stories.
The book in general felt slow and drug out in parts, despite the heavy topics of their diagnosis.
