Aesop's history helps these fables gain some base else they are useless. Another I would never read something as foolish as this ever, it was compulsory reading for HUL231 i.e why I read it.

These were fun to revisit, after growing up with a lot of the fables in here. There were a lot I remembered, and a whole lot more that I'd never heard. It was interesting to actually read them all, though, even if they do get a bit tiring. Can't imagine I'll ever read all of these again.

Very interesting to read this translation of the fables maybe 15 years after i last read them. I was not really into them this time, however. They're glib, repetitive and often nonsensical and ridiculous. They exist more as an important cultural artificat than as something to extract any modern meaning from.
