First book in her new duet and again another really enjoyable read.
Childhood friends, yet enemies to lovers. Both have suffered traumatic childhoods.
Memphis and Josh - not related but both adopted together find next door Skylar who falls in love with Josh. Memphis keeps his distance but loves Sky from afar.
They are all complex characters who have all had a lot to deal with in their short lives.
It was a roller coaster of a read, I loved Memphis, Josh was on a self destruct and Skylar wanted to change him. It gives back story of a few of the characters from The Words and although it ends on a bit of a cliff hanger - it sets things up nicely for Book 2.
Teenage lovers in books are not my thing but I did enjoy it.

wow!

Holy cow, I knew that Skylar and Memphis’ story was going to be a roller coaster, but I was not prepared! This book had me on the edge of my seat, and I felt like I couldn’t absorb it fast enough!

I gave this book only ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️s because the first part of the book was only ⭐️⭐️⭐️s, but the end of the book was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️s. The end was so much better than the beginning. And it ended in a cliffhanger, so now I want to read the second book. I do recommend this book, just know that the second half of the book is what will draw you in.

The book was entertaining in that the writing is good and the story doesn’t lag.

But… Skylar. Holy crap. I hate her so much. She’s a victim, I get it. But she’s also dumb? And weirdly naive? But then she gets all pushy with Memphis at random times and it seems contradictory to everything else she does.

Honestly, I have no idea why Memphis loves her other than her looks. She’s awful.
