i liked the idea of the novel alot but somehow wasnt able to follow the story, the writing wasnt captivating enough
it was rlly good actually but i think i liked it less than i could’ve bc i had to read it for school and that causes pressure reading sometimes in looking for symbols and what not

highly educational about another huge gap that gets left out of our history classes. loved the story of the sisters as well. this is also a movie with selma hayek.

LOVED this book!Incredible look at this time period - the movie is actually pretty good too.
Better than anticipated, although a bit slow in parts. Made me eager to learn more history about the Trujillo dictatorship, which I mostly know about through historical fiction. I knew this was "based on a true story" but thought that the Mirabal sisters were an invention--I felt much more invested in the book when I learned they were real! :D
