The way this author made this story 600+ pages and I still desperately want more. I can only assume that she made these two books purely because of the combined page count. This is definitely not a book that can stand on its own considering it’s the second and third act of a single story but I loved it. There was something about how unbothered she was to move things along that really worked for me. The insecurities of these two broken idiots had plenty of time to flourish organically before inevitably leading to the third act break up, allowing me as the reader to actually want them to take some time apart until they could communicate better. Plus the groveling is god tier.

I will say that this book was even lighter on plot than the first one. There were multiple big plot points, outside their relationship, that were discussed many times and then the climax was glossed over at best.
Tor’s whole plot line, for example, was bullshit. He went on vacation? Really? And they all just accept that as his answer?? Don’t get me started on all that build up around Dante only for him to stab Rafe and then immediately on the next page we just fast forwarded past it and Dante’s never seen again.
In another book, I would have found this a massive issue. I was too enamored to care though. I was in it for the charisma, not the dark romance. Watching Rafe fall from the wedding scene to whispering please was everything I needed to make this a 5 star read.

Penny and Rafe’s second book of their duet. They are enemies to lovers. She is a person who does what she has to to survive. He is a business mafia guy. She chooses him as her target and he becomes obsessed with her. She has been lucky and he becomes unluck now that she is in his life. He still can get enough of her.

They become infatuated with each other but don’t want to be the one to “break first”.  They have a constant competition on who will show more in the relationship. He messes up and breaks her trust. And then he has to grovel to get her back.

I am reviewing Sinners Condemned and Consumed together because I didn’t want to stop after the first to write down my thoughts, and now I’m not 100% certain on where one ended and the other began.
The build-up and tension between Rafe and Penny was unmatched; a real slow burn that I loved, I just wanted more and more. I loved that she was the one person who was able to see through his façade and get to know the real him, and I loved that he became such a safe haven for Penny after she’d been through so much.
What I really appreciated with this is that we got to see so much of the side characters, we got more of a sense of who they are and their personalities and got to see characters from previous books continue to develop. Specifically Rory and her relationships with her brothers-in-law was such a joy and we’ll hopefully just get more of it when we get Gabe’s story next.
I will say it felt like the plot did seem to drop off as Rafe and Penny got together and the story became less about all the external drama that was going on in the beginning, some conflicts were solved off page making some of those plot points a little anticlimactic. That being said I still really enjoyed this duet and I cant wait for Gabe’s (and Nico’s) story.
