A pretty fun novella. I haven’t read the original trilogy, but there wasn’t any confusion. The world and magic feel unique and weird in a good way, and there’s plenty of intrigue, even if the main mystery is not terribly involved. Loved the dynamic between main characters, which really reminds me of the kind of BL manhwa I usually gravitate towards – vaguely historical, intense, with power-games abound.

Definitely want to read more from the author.

It’s certainly something. I enjoyed it but not entirely sure I understood. At times the magic was just a bit too magical and the character just a bit to fantastical.

Utterly delightful interlude to the series with my favorite two people as the main attraction. Asmodeus and Thuan go to the dragon kingdom and get involved in a murder mystery that's going to make this family visit a little more interesting.

A novella(?) set in the author’s Dominion of the Fallen series, with a tight little murder mystery embedded in the familial/court politics of the underwater dragon kingdom. Lots of drama, angst, peril, and socio-political negotiation to provide distraction from the murder. And that’s just between our dragon & fallen angel married protagonists. I’m going to guess that this story might be a bit too in media res for any reader who hasn’t read the Dominion novels, but you should go read those because they’re really good. (If you like drama, angst, peril, and socio-political negotiation.)

This novella was so amazing. Thaun and Asmodeus are now my favorite book couple next to Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan. I also really enjoyed the court politics. It was the perfect pace with a really good resolution that didn't feel rushed. I love this woman, she has me in a chokehold!
