I'm finally getting to read this series in the right order, more or less.

Even though I enjoyed the plot, I felt that humanity’s progress seemed strangely outdated. The story, published in 1951, imagined a future that we are now much closer to, except for space travel and expansion to other planets. Despite the futuristic setting, the portrayal of technology and society felt somewhat ancient. You are telling me that, even after thousands of years have passed, people still live by the same standards and that our colonization of other planets is the only advancement? That felt so unrealistic to me that it pulled me out of the story and lowered my enjoyment.

Asimov is said to be the J.R.R.Tolkien of science fiction genre and this is one of the reasons that I wanted to read it, that and the fact that Star Wars and Star Trek found their inspirations from Fondation.

As a first book from this author, I have to say that I could not put it down, it was fascinating, I was in awe of Asimov's visionary mind and genius. His writing style is simple and mesmerizing at the same time, his characters are so clever to the point of cunning and know so well how to use their intelligence in order to get what they want or to get out of some big crises and problems, we can not not get attached to each one and want them to succeed in their missions either good or bad. It is fully inspired by the real world's politics, history, economy and the influence of religion.

It's really an interesting science fiction book, a classic in this genre, but don't wait for any fight or battle with spatialships and so on because there is none. The book is mainly written in the form of dialogues, really interesting ones that's for sure but there are no elements of storytelling, you just follow different characters' stories through dialogues.

All in all, it's good and "a have to read once in your life" kind of book, I'm really curious about what will happen in the next books.

I was honestly a little disappointed, I walked into this book with the expectation of it being a “sci-fi great” and while I can understand the concepts and science fiction nature of it was quite novel for the time; it is extremely dated to the point that it’s almost funny
I found that this book almost reads like a laundry list, (person A does this and person B doesn’t like it) and skips large chunks of time to more characters that I don’t quite care about
That said for the mere fact that it’s old and has a very nuclear driven agenda (a tech that I believe in) I have given it a 4/5

What Lord of The Rings is to the fantasy genre , the Foundation Trilogy is to sci fi novels. Written by Isaac Asimov in 1940s, it is considered cradle of space fantasy and sci fi literature. The likes of Star Wars, Star Trek and Dune owe their success to Foundation universe as they incorporated many elements into their plots.

While the novels has many of the sci fi tropes like futuristic metropolises, gadgets, atomic blasters and shields, etc. The main focus here is on the sociological, political and psychological aspects of human kind.

Plot: A new branch of psychological statistics called 'psychohistory' is developed by a genius mathematician Hari Seldon, which predicts the inevitable fall of Galactic Empire and a long period of barbarism. To foster the development of next empire, Seldon develops a Foundation in a new planet which consists of scientists and engineers.

Four different stories over the course of centuries connected by Seldon's Psychohistory. The main theme is centered around the idea of ' violence is last refuge of incompetent'.

MY Rating: 4.5/5
