I enjoyed. It has some real fun with fairytale tropes and logic, the start has some great fey-as-horror vibes, and Miryem and Wanda's points of view are great at building a picture of life in the village from different perspectives. It gets a bit bogged down in the middle, maybe too many POV characters, and some events that we maybe didn't need to be explicitly shown on screen. The ending picks up, there's maybe one climax/reversal too many but I think that's a function of trying to pay off everything that was set up in the middle. And it does pay them off. For anyone looking for snowy Winternight vibes I recommend.

Things I liked:
+ I LOVE a stubborn, headstrong female character and there were three of them! I love how all of them stood up to someone, said no to the role expected of them, and were determined, forceful, messy humans
+ Jewish twist on fairytale-type stories
+ smooth, beautiful writing style I really enjoyed

This novel impressively juggles multiple POVs and somehow makes them all equally compelling.

Each character is complex, with clear motives, flaws, and strengths.

The heroines rise above their circumstances with cleverness and nerve, working together and individually to solve the seemingly insurmountable problems set before them.

The magic system is consistent, mysterious, and beautifully simple. The Fae are perfectly portrayed: terrifying, infuriating, and by the end, endearing.

The language is beautiful; the imagery breathtaking; the worldbuilding extensive without taking away from the action of the plot.

All in all, a gorgeously crafted work of art.

The one and only thing I would add to this book is one more chapter for each character at the end of their story arcs so I could enjoy their stories just a tiny bit longer.
This was actually my second read through and it made me love this book even more than the first time!

This is just a DNF for audiobook because it is like SO HARD to know when the POV changes making it kinda confusing! I am starting over via digital loan :)
