I usually don’t read a lot of thrillers but when I read the blur I knew I had to read this. This book had me so invested I read it anywhere I went, it invaded my every thought. I am a crime whore I love watching true crime documentaries and love crime shows, so this book was just perfect for me. I love tansy’s character she wasn’t a good person nor a bad like she wasn’t overly perfect and she did many mistakes but it made it so much better and her relationship with zack was so cute they are truly made for each other. I was legit on the edge of my seat so many times even if I predicted some of the plot twists it was still amazing.
This story is about a girl named Tansy who lives terror about something that happened 20 years ago. She has run away and refused to think about what happened that night. But she has no choice but to deal with the guilt and the pain when Serena her formal best friend comes back in her life demanding to pay back the favor of what she did to her that night 20 years ago.
Trust me you will not regret this book every character was so complex and so interesting to read about. It was a bit slow for my taste at the beginning and I almost DNF it but I am glad I didn’t. I am 100% buying this book when it comes out and shoving it down everyone’s throats.

This book, the story, the characters - I don’t know if I should say “like mother, like daughter” or be happy that one of the characters escaped an abusive relationship. But I can say one thing for sure, this made me think and I like a good thoughtful thriller. I’d say Summer we buried is a quick to read that is dramatic like a woman’s fiction and fast paced like a suspenseful thriller. I felt every character in this book other than Tansy was a bit unreliable and -in the end- I was right!! It is an intriguing and enigmatic story.
I haven’t read from this author before, but I really enjoyed the character development and the story progression, it makes me want to check out her backlist titles!
Thank you Crooked Lane books via Netgalley for the reader’s copy.

TW / Sexual assault.
TW / Domestic violence.
A very intriguing slow burn book that will have you addicted and needing to keep turning the pages late into the night…
From the get go I found The Summer We Buried to be an intriguing and atmospheric read, it had that addictive feel to it and worked it’s way under my skin, to the point where I needed to keep reading to find out what would happen to our characters. Coupled with an incredibly well done underlying tense feeling, it was the perfect recipe for a thrilling book.
For me, the characters really made this story what it was. They all had their own past and things to keep hidden, that gave them a real air of mystery… Coupled with the very real and natural relationships they were forming throughout the story, Tansy’s two minds about the past, Selene’s need to keep her daughter safe, Jupiter’s situation and Zack who seemingly gets caught in the middle of everything (until as we find out later, isn’t exactly as it seems).
Individually the characters were excellently written and together they formed a mismatched group that just worked. That carried the story to its completion and did a thoroughly good job of it too.
The writing also really impressed me, and while it was a slow burn book it didn’t feel boring. The author had this very descriptive, almost poetic way of writing, that was beautiful and really brought the book to life.
And the plot was good too, there were a few twists that I picked up on that weren’t brilliantly concealed, but on the whole the story was really good! The twists and turns weren’t outlandish and they all just worked really well together to form a truly good story.
While entertaining isn’t the best word to describe this book, I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a slow burn that will still give you a thrill…

This book is much closer to a mystery with suspenseful and psychological aspects than a thriller, and that is an important distinction to me, because it wasn’t what I was expecting and I was let down.
The pacing of this book was incredibly uneven. It caused me, as a reader, to be extremely bored for the first half of this book. By the time I got to the second half and things started to ramp up I was already pretty much done with this book. I had pretty much lost interest in this tale of toxic friendships and not-quite-plausible secrets and lies.
The story may be entertaining enough to another reader for a better review, but I just couldn’t get totally on board.
Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for early access to this title in exchange for a fair and honest review. As per personal policy this review will not be posted on any bookseller or social media site due to its 3 star or lower rating.

This book was a torturing slow-burn, I admit I was a little bit bored and I was just 40% into the book but I kept reading it, because I was drawn to the toxic relationship between Selene and Tansy, so the plot twist came and I was shocked, I think was more shocked at where tansy 's loyalty to Selene could go,then the plot twist itself. I liked " The summer we buried "very much but " The girls weekend is my favorite.

Has a bit of a slow start but the characters have a sense of relatability that allows you to put yourself in their shoes. It shows character growth and explains the main character's need for a sense of belonging as she becomes apart of this complicated family. I wished we got to have more time exploring the character relationships.

This was an intriguing thriller that I could not put down. This story follows Tansy as her best friend from 20 years ago Celine shows up demanding she break up her daughters relationship or she will release Tansy darkest secret. Feeling trapped she agrees to meet Jupiter and be her counselor. After meeting Jupiter Tansy realized she may be in over her head with her the family drama and the love she finds with Zach, Celine’s brother.
I really enjoyed this book it was entertaining and kept me engaged. I will admit it’s not the twistiest thriller but I still really enjoyed the characters and did not get bored. I really enjoyed Tansy and Jupiter they were smart strong women that I really related to. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator. I felt the narrators voice is exactly what I imagine Tansy to sound like. I will admit the voice for Celine was not my favorite but still enjoyed the overall narration. I would like to thank net galley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.
