The format of this book was nice, but because of it, I felt like I missed a lot of how the relationship between Gena & Finn actually developed. Everything just happened really fast all of a sudden and I wasn't really able to get attached to the characters. The ending of this book was really moving though and I loved the writing. I just thought the switch from being a light and funny book to one that deals with serious issues was a little too rough.
SpoilerThe actual end was also way too fast for me. I normally appreciate open endings, but this one was just unsatisfying.

I received a free ebook copy of this from NetGalley for the purpose of review.

Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling this one. By about a third of the way through I was asking, "do I want to bother finishing this?" And took that as a very bad sign and decided to put it down.

Mostly it was the portrayal of fandom. It wasn't inaccurate, exactly... but no offence, the first third had a lot of the type of fangirling that gets old after a while. Or maybe it was just a bit too much capslock for my tastes.

Either way: I didn't hate it, but I wasn't liking it enough to bother to go on. To each their own; it isn't to mine.

Gena and Finn are both obsessed with a show (think Grey's Anatomy mixed with Chicago PD) and each writes either fanfiction or draws fanart for the show. Basically, they are obsessed. Finn hasn't told her serious boyfriend about her serious obsession. Gena lives at a boarding school, her parents are distant, and she really doesn't have any great relationships in the real world. After the two women meet each other online, they finally find someone who gets them.

Questions of sexuality, Con attendance, and an explosion are all featured in this book. I liked the author's format of email, texts, and journals. The overall plot was a bit muddy and not fully fleshed out, probably because so much was going on. I wanted to like it more than I actually did. It was okay.
