Okay, not gonna lie I picked up the book to read finally because the movie version of it was coming out. I had it on my shelves, and I was doing a lot of ARC reviews for some people, but I decided to take a little break and read a book of my choice from one I actually bought...years ago.
So from the beginning you see the relationship that Elle has with Lee who is her best friend. You also see the kind of relationship that Elle has with Noah, even if it comes off as more of a brother and sister vibe from his side of things. Now as someone who had a big brother and grew up with a bunch of guys hanging around, crushes do tend to happen...there's no way that it wouldn't. And if you didn't have a crush on your sibling's friend then somethings wrong. (Just kidding nothing is wrong with you, but really cute crushes to your pre-puberty stage is like a walk of life)
or me there were a couple scenes that I felt like they dragged on too much. I also felt like the big moment between the three of them didn't last as long as I thought it would. Like Lee was over it all relatively fast, and it wasn't a strong enough/long enough of a scene.
I will say though that there were quite a few moments that I didn't like, and it mostly had to do with Noah's anger and really protective moments. It seemed like he was too clingy for someone that he didn't even have to call a girlfriend. There's a scene that gets pretty heated (Actually there are a couple of those) that even in the heat of the moment that I enjoyed because it heightened the book, I also was put off by the way he reacted.
Overall this was a good book. There were many swoon-worthy moments, but for myself, I felt like there could have been a bit more. I didn't exactly enjoy the anger issues that came through Noah, but I loved the forbidden romance aspect to it. The connection that Elle has to both brothers, and their mom is honestly something amazing. I felt like since she didn't have her mother there, having Lee's mom was a great way to show the mothering aspect that all girls this age wish for.

The book is really really good but I did enjoy the movie more.
Usually I can't read a book if I have already seen the movie or show first. It usually doesn't keep my interest because I already know so much of what has happened. I didn't have that problem here. I actually really liked Noah in the book way better. He was more sincere and attentive. While I liked him in the movie he was just a typical jock. I also really liked Lee more in the book. In the movie he was whiney and annoying. I enjoyed that it wasn't the fact of Elle being with Noah that upset him but the fact that she lied. I never did like how Lee was so caught up on making sure Noah and Elle never got together. It was just dumb, so was their rivalry in the movie. It was much more realistic in the book.
Este libro lo encontré por casualidad, a pesar de que soy una usuaria constante de Wattpad, la plataforma donde la autora publicó originalmente esta historia. Tuve suerte de encontrarla ya terminada y con una traducción de editorial, que son las más fieles y comprensibles.
Tengo que añadir que respeto y agradezco a los blogs que traducen libros que no son publicados mediante editoriales en nuestros respectivos países, pero ya lo dije y lo vuelvo a decir: saber un idioma no es saber traducir y por eso estamos las personas que estudiamos para serlo profesionalmente.
Volviendo a la historia, tengo que decir que, a pensar de lo cliché, me resultó amena e innovadora porque ella no es la típica empollona tímida y callada que se fija en el chico malo y él se ríe de ella hasta que se enamora. Veréis, siempre lo he dicho. Las historias cliché están muy bien siempre y cuando rompas ese cliché y lo hagas algo que nunca hayas leído antes. O mejor dicho, algo que siempre hayas querido leer.
La historia es un poco lenta y no hay desarrollo de los personajes. Hasta la mitad del libro, más o menos, no empieza la verdadera trama.
Para empezar algo que cabe a destacar es la relación que existe entre Elle y Lee. Ambos son mejores amigos desde que nacieron y tienen una relación súper estrecha. Esta relación de amistad entre una mujer y un hombre que muestra la novela me ha encantado. Ya que es una relación que no tiene un interés más allá de la pura amistad.
Siguiendo el hilo de los personajes Elle en un principio me lió muchísimo. Si leéis el libro os encontraréis conque Elle se llama Elle, Shelly y Rochelle. Y yo hasta que no llegué a la página cien no procesé que Shelly es el diminutivo de Rochelle y de Shelly Elle. En serio, me costó.
Pasando el lío del nombre de la protagonista, Elle es un personaje que me ha encantado. Es una chica con una personalidad adorable, simpática y divertida. Es un personaje que me ha gustado mucho.
Lee es un personaje que también me ha encantado. Es un chico genial y todo el rato pensaba "ojalá existiera de verdad".
Noah sin duda es el chico malo, pero no el típico. Es el chico malo mezclado con el chico bueno. Podríamos decir que algo intermedio. Creo que la autora intentó crear un malote pero no lo ha conseguido y probablemente es lo único que no me ha convencido de la novela.
Tengo que admitir que me gustó mucho más la película que el libro en sí, porque Rochelle en el libro era una incongruente que no sabía lo que quería. No tengo mucho más que añadir de esta historia porque la trama se explica sola y el final abierto no me convenció en absoluto.
Creía que la autora haría una secuela, pero lo único que ha hecho es un libro aparte con las cosas que Elle, Lee y Noah hicieron mientras estaban de vacaciones, antes de que Noah se fuera a la universidad. Y eso no es terminar la historia. Si me leéis a menudo, sabréis que no me gustan nada los finales abiertos e inconclusos.

I’d give this 3.5 stars, extremely cute and I read it all in one day! It was an awesome story for a YA read and I will definitely check out the next one!
I really liked this for the most part. I thought some parts of Noah's character were a little too much for me, but I'm also 7/8 years older than the main characters. Looking forward to reading the next one and the two short stories!
