Loved the haunted house plot line. The ending took me by surprise but was really good! Numerous twists that made you question who the culprit was and who was haunting the house.

Nothing about this book will be what you expect. I thought I was in for a good ghost story and instead was given a story of family secrets so compelling and original I finished the last section of the book in an hour because I. Had. To. Know. Maggie Holt and the flashbacks of her father’s book are fantastic narrators. There are so many hidden clues that I may want to go back and read those parts again now that I know the whole story. You want a thriller that will surprise you with every turn? This is the book for you.

I really liked this book. It was like a 2020 version of The Haunting of Hill House, which is one of my all-time favorite books. I love a good ghost story.

this book is like if the haunting of hill house had a baby with the shining but like...a version of the shining that’s Good. it was the strongest five out of all his books for me...until the admittedly convoluted ending. still, it was stellar and i very much enjoyed my time reading!!

I loved this book! A combination of a good old haunted house story and a murder mystery. I flew through it and it took me until the last 40 pages to figure out the ending which is satisfying. Overall probably 4.75 but I’ll give it 5.

This is probably my favourite of Sager’s books so far.
