Good book in time for Halloween. It gave me the Haunting of Hill House vibes.

3.75 stars. There were some parts that were a bit cheesy, but it was entertaining. Much better than the other book I read by the author.

The pages turned easily, I didn’t guess the ending. I found myself scared reading the book at times if I was reading it before bed. For the most part the story made sense and was satisfying in the end. The only obvious parts for me was there being a secret back entrance to the house and baneberries in the pie. The only mehhh part of the ending for me was Maggie surviving the baneberries and the fall down the stairs when everyone else died.

Decent mystery that kept me guessing but marred by dull characters and conversation.
