I’m always good for a haunted house story…but is it a haunting or just a series of ridiculously unfortunate events?? Easy, engaging read and perfect for spooky season. Multiple timelines follow the inhabitants of one Baneberry Hall in New England: Ewan, Jess and Maggie Holt are the modern era owners, but the house’s history includes mysterious sounds, creepy shadow people coming out of armoires and showing up in pictures and a long recurring history of fathers murdering their daughters. Lots of twisty turns in typical Sager fashion and I found myself liking this one more than some of his other books.

A twisty and enjoyable mystery even though the protagonist is a bit tedious at times.

Holy cow!! Another great book by Riley Sager. The dual timeline and twists make this book great. Keep reading because you can’t predict the ending.

Was a good thriller overall! Called a few of the twists but enjoyed reading it.

Very good book, and as usual I did not figure out who was the killer. Curiosity killed the cat, sometime satisfaction does not bring him back.
I did not find this boo to be scary at all. Actually, I was hoping for some really scary scenes. I think it take a lot to scare me. I had not favorite character, in fact the protagonist was somewhat irritating at time. Over all I still enjoyed the story.

The only problem I have with this book is that I didn’t read it sooner! It’s been on my TBR list since the start of 2024 and I’ve finally got around to listening to it.

The plot was amazing - so many unexpected twists that all made sense at the conclusion of the story. I experienced so many emotions with this book, Riley Sager never disappoints.

Starting 2025 with a 5 star read is pretty impressive if I do say so myself
