The instant I started reading this book, I knew it was right up my alley. It was giving me major "haunting on Hill House" (the tv version) vibes and I was excited to see what the story was behind this house. I don't scare easily, especially when it comes to books so when I was reading a certain scene at two in the morning and finding myself physically uncomfortable, I was really impressed. The twists kept me guessing. I'm happy to say that I guessed one or two but NEVER saw some of the other developments coming! This was my first Riley Sager but it will definitely not be my last!

Az első, de biztosan nem az utolsó Riley Sager könyvem! Paranormális pszichothriller egy kísértetházban, pörgős fejezetekkel, teljesen berántott a történet. Tetszett a két idősíkban futó cselekmény, és a történet felépítése, ahogy fokozatosan vált egyre ijesztőbbé és félelmetesebbé.

My favorite book of 2021! I finished it in a day and a half, mostly due to the fact that 2/3 of it I listened to as an audiobook during work. But I was so hooked that I checked out the physical copy from my library and flew through the last third in a couple hours. The writing, the characters, the stories (both the Book and Maggie’s POV) are all phenomenal. Gripping, heartbreaking, intense, and even a bit creepy. Absolutely loved it!
