4.5 rounded up. This one is definitely my favorite of Riley Sager’s books that I’ve read this far (I’ve been reading them in release order). I liked the chapters of the book within a book in between the MC’s current events. Reality is often stranger than fiction, and I love that human nature can be so fucked up that it’s easy to write it off as something supernatural. The unreliability of it all was great; none of the characters had all of the info, so their assumptions made this a crazy ride. The ending was a little *meh* for some reason to me, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Also, the ghost shit going on, like the bells ringing at random, the thumps and taps, the lights being left on really added to the mood. NOT TO MENTION THE DAMN SNAKES, BIG OLE NOPE. Who knew “The Sound of Music” soundtrack could be so damn creepy?!

I thought it was a fun read especially if you love ghost stories/haunted houses. Definitely not too spooky. Can’t say it’s the absolute best thriller I’ve read but had some decent twists and turns and left you feeling satisfied with the ending! 3.5 stars feels good to me.
Not sure why this book gets 5 star reviews from others. The premise is a mix 0f a haunted house and 'who done it'. Riley Sager pulls from The Haunting of Hill House and The Shining both books do it better. The beginning was strong. The conclusion was a dude. I liked how the two narrators weave to tell a story. I recommend the audiobook. The audiobook voice actors did a great job. It was entertaining listen.
