5 stars ⭐️ carissa broadbent never fails me. this novella??? felt like a book in all the best ways i ate this shit up. men written by women omFg

Love the backstory of Val and Lilith but eh overall

Ya know, I'm not usually one for novellas. They usually just don't have enough in them to be interesting. But this one might've just changed my perspective on that. It's not the action-packed political discourse-riddled story of The Serpent and the Wings of Night, but the characters, the dialogue, and the both internal and external battle with gods and death was so beautifully written. I'd forgotten I was reading a novella and wished Lilith and Vale had their own duet in the Crowns of Nyaxia series.
Definitely worth a read!

Six Scorched Roses

This book was one I unwrapped from my TBR and I’m so glad I finally got to it! For a book so short I was shocked how invested I became in Lillith and Vale!

I knew by page 3 I was hooked and unable to put it down. Lilliths thought process towards illness and grief was interesting - also vampires make any book fun!

I am on a fantasy kick right now and I need to read more of it. This series was recommended to me and I could get my hand on this novella. In Six Scorched Roses, Lilith's sister and village are dying. They have been cursed with a plague and Mina is suffering greatly. Lilith will stop at nothing to save her sister, even going to Lord Vale to ask for some of his vampire blood. She offers him a deal, she will gift with something special once a month in exchange for his blood. I was very interested in Vale and not much else in this one. I thought that it was fine but I never connected much to Lilith. I have heard great things about book 1 in the series so I do want to give that one a try.
