Status update. Dead until July
It has been a LONG time since a book has wrecked me like this. Avery has come so far since JDO and I just love her more and more. J. Bree is so fucking talented and will take on a ride that will leave you dangling on the edge of a 200ft drop with you begging for more. If you haven't read any of her books. You need to.

This took just a little while to get going. That's the only reason I took off half a star. Still not a big fan of Atticus, but I'm sure Avery will bend him to her will.
I liked this book better than the first, the action picked up a bit so it was more engaging. I don't really like Atticus' character, I just feel like he's very 2D and underdeveloped. Aodhan is great but same as the first book, it just feels like their relationship is too easy. At least this was a quick read.

“Nothing better than a woman getting the respect she deserves, her hands dripping with the blood she shed to get it.”

This whole story is so unique, intriguing and so well plotted out... I have no coherent words, only dying whale noises for this review.
One of the things I loved the most in this book were all the little feminism speeches and how well placed they were. Especially when it came from the Butcher or Aodhan.
I love them so much and reading about alpha men respecting and protecting women and children is such a breath of fresh air when it comes to the dark romance sub-genre.
I’m so in love with Queenie, she’s an amazing main character and her evolution through out both series has been so flawlessly done so far.
Aodhan only got better and better with each scene, but he never felt too good to be true or anything like that. He and Queenie are just so incredible together, their chemistry off the charts good.
Atticus, on the other hand, didn’t manage to win me over. After all the pain and heartache he made Queenie go through, not even a bullet to the chest was enough redemption for me. And their sex scene left me quite uncomfortable. They weren’t in the right place as a couple to get to intimate the way he made her to. I wasn’t a fan of “don’t speak, don’t move, just take whatever I give you” coming from a dude who’s been lying and controlling her for years, before they could even have a conversation about it. I don’t know, it felt weird to me, not hot.
I’m worried the third book is going to leave a lot of unanswered questions for future books, but that only means more reading time in Mount Bay, so I won’t complain for now... lol

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better….. We get the masterpiece that is The Ruthless! Avery in all her glory is just everything!!! Watching her come into her own and grow over every book we have seen her in not just All Hail and now The Ruthless has really been a treat . She has the confidence and fierceness I always knew she had she just needed to believe in it. Avery has always been the fixer and that hasn’t changed but now there are way more threats out there and everything is piling up while Avery is still trying to keep them under control. The men in Avery’s life are something else I don’t know how many times I wanted to throat punch Atticus he is a complete Alpha to the fullest but this man would seriously do anything for Avery and Aodhan is such a charmer you can’t help but love everything about him. I really think these two men are the light and the dark and even though both have caused Avery Pain they have also been her healing and her happy and the complete each other. Honestly everyone of J Bree’s books seriously consumes your mind body and soul leaving you completely breathless and begging for more. Once again we are let with that gut punch cliffhanger and all we can do is sit and not so patiently wait for book 3 and I absolutely cannot wait to see where this story takes us but I can tell you one thing I am hopping on the crazy train!!!

Another amazing read by J Bree! I loved the glimpses of Lips and her guys. Avery is such a badass and I love seeing more into her brain. Aodhan..... OMG I am obsessed with him. He’s always there for her and just GAH! As always the Crow is irritating but I love him anyway! I can’t wait to see how these three come together in the end.
“There goes the sane and rational girl.
I need to destroy everything.”
AODHAN IS PERFECT. That’s my conclusion on this series. Aodhan is a perfect human & Atticus can choke
