I really wanted to like McCarthy’s last novel. It brought “The Passenger” together for me somewhat, and the audiobook performance was phenomenal, but the book itself just felt tired and morose. Another romanticization of a suicidal intellectual burdened by their own genius… it just felt like an exhausted trope.
