I adore Gail Carriger’s work and was eager to see what she would do with a short story for young readers. Although I did not love this as much as I had hoped to, it was an enjoyable quick read.

Fairy Debt is an easy read, one that put a sweet little spin on the fairy and princess stories. It’s not the deepest of reads, it’s not the hardest hitting, but it is easy and enjoyable. It’s not the most memorable story from the author, but I would happily read more from the world.

All in all, an enjoyable quick read.

This was a really unique, enjoyable story. I love her character names and how everyone is so real.

Very cute short story with an interesting take on fairies serving out family debts, different types of dragons and princesses being normal.

This was an amusing tale of amusing contract shenanigans and, of course, fairies. I enjoyed it, especially the dragon. The narration wasn't my favourite, but I think I'm always going to feel that way about US-accented audiobooks. It was a fun, quirky read and a pleasant way to spend slightly longer than a car trip (it's 27 minutes long). The story and style put me in mind of some of Tansy Rayner Roberts' short stories (which I read before blogging), so if you're a fan of those (or of Splashdance Silver/Ink Black Magic), then give this one a go.
