I loved the concept of this book, but once I was actually reading I found it pretty frustrating to read such a good story just to finish it 10 pages later and just getting your mind into a new world again and again. I would def read most of these novels as complete books tho
This. Book. Was. Phenomenal.
I fell in love with every single character in this collection of short stories. Each and every author captured something unique and I found something to identify with in every story. If you are looking for well-written, heart-string-pulling stories, you will want to read this book. I borrowed this from my library, but I am 100% going to buy my own copy!

It's super hard to rate short story compilations bc some were so good and some where eh and some where just kind of bad :(

In all honesty, this deserved a 3/5. I adored the representation and the intentions of the collection, however some of the stories I felt were so weak and just... plain bad. I typically love short stories, but a good deal of these were drab and plotless and overall dissatisfying.
HOWEVERR, there were a few that really blew me away (Healing Rosa, Willows, Every Shade Of Red, The Inferno & The Butterfly and one or two others). Only a few out of seventeen stories were actually amazing, and I'd say those few are worth the whole book. But the ratio of good-bad stories doesn't have enough good to bring up my unofficial rating above a 3/5.
I am giving this a 4/5 on record, because I'm wily like that.
In short, it's a good book. It has good representation of all kinds of minorities! But some of the stories in this collection just didn't cut it for me, while others really blew me away. I'd recommend if you're looking for an easy summer read.

I'm really glad this collection exists and reaffirms the fact that Mackenzi Lee is the funniest, cutest author ever.

An excellent, varied collection, full of triumph, defiance, and hope.
Some of these stories I loved, others I hated. So it was an all over the place book for me. It did show me a few authors I definitely want to read more of.
