I largely enjoyed the stories - I agree with some of the reviews that they could be a bit formulaic, but that doesn't mean they were necessarily bad, and I found enough variation between the different stories to keep me reading. It's always nice to catch a glimpse of queer history when we have so little of it, as well. My main issue with this anthology is despite the wide range of stories and authors, there were no trans women to be seen. At least not in the stories, and not from the admittedly brief glimpses I got of the author's goodread bios. It's something I found very disappointing, especially considering how much trans women frequently come under fire. Hopefully if this editor decides to compile a similar anthology it will contain stories of all trans people throughout the ages.

I enjoyed the time I spent with this book. I appreciate its existence. I just didn't love it as much as I hoped.

I thought it was going to be more like folklore and fairytale centered, and I was kind of disappointed it wasn't. That's through no fault of its own, I just really hoped that is what I was going to read. Sans that, it was just gay short stories. Cool. Interesting. Important. Not what I wanted. Not what I needed.

3.5 stars because even though I'm not a big anthology reader there were definetly a few stories that just popped out to me.

Also can I just get a whole novel about Every Shade Of Red by Elliot Wake because yo that was my favorite of this whole collection!

Really enjoyed! 4/4.5! Obviously some more than others but overall, the vibes were right and we're all queer in book.

Favorites:
- "The Sweet Trade"
- "And they don't kiss at the end"

I found some of the stories only okay, and wasn't a huge fan of them, but the vast majority I really liked. Some of the stories I really wished were made into a full length story. All in all, I enjoyed it

A beautiful anthology of queer stories from many different cultures! Some stories I liked, and some were a bit meh, but the ones I LOVED were:

-The Dresser and the Chambermaid
-Burnt umber
-The one about the girl in the convent
- The butterfly/magician one
- Every shade of red - so beautiful! Deaf main character, queer Robin Hood! So divine divine divine. Loved the writing!

As with all anthologies, there were some stories I liked more than others, but this one was definitely above average. There were a lot of really great and different stories in here and I was also really impressed that there were SO MANY TRANS CHARACTERS! Usually a book like this will have maybe one or two trans characters and you can tell it's basically just so they can say they covered it, but there were a lot in here and I thought that was really great. I almost didn't read this because I'm always just so wary about anthologies these days, but I'm really glad I did.
