Reminiscent of Speak with the "what really happened" and the impact of dealing with painful situations as a teen - another winner from Dessen
Honestly I was hooked for the entire thing. UNTIL the ending. well sort of the ending. That bit where Robby unknowingly forces her into admitting she was raped before she ready. As well as that I was so confused about everything, am I supposed to focus on Whitney's unrealistic stereotypical ED or the MC wanting to quit modelling or the rape or the romance? It just felt like the author really tried to squish every possible plot into this one book. Also where was the healing???????????????????? Like when did she herself start to heal without Robby? NEVER.
I'm actually so sad bc I loved "every other weekend" and I had such high hopes

3.5/5 stars. I like this book because it deals with important real life issues teenagers face and I'm a sucker for cheesy YA romances. That being said, I really didn't like Annabel for the majority of the book. I felt like she was the typical weak female lead who let everyone walk all over her. I'm also not a fan of love interests that have anger issues, but I guess at least it was acknowledged as a negative trait. My biggest pet peeve has to be the convenient coincidences in Dessen's books (like Owen being the pizza deliveryman by chance), but I realize it's a YA book. Still a decent book for a quick and easy read, I just wished I liked the characters more.
