Skylar frequently irritated me with her rash decisions, but her potential for being a badass kept me reading.

I am stopping mid book to write this because I can- its that plodding and boring. I like a nice slow book ( the Others by Anne Bishop) But this book is not that - it’s glacial and boring. There isn’t even good character interactions along the way. No one is likeable, not even the heroine who is a weird blend of teenager and adult, TSTL and mature. At this point she’s not sure she should trust anyone and I have to agree. All the characters so far are aggressive/manipulative/sketchy.

Sigh. I need a good book to read!

DNF at 54% , I tried it kept trying ,I tried to like it , it would get better but no, there’s nothing likeable about any of the characters, nothing sympathetic and most of the book so far is just going around in circles and nothing happening , just no. Sad because the description seemed so interesting and my type of read

Actual rating of 2.5

I actually upped the rating as I started working through the last 15-20% of the book. Before this I was struggling considerably with getting through it. I liked the idea, I'm a sucker for urban fantasy, what can I say. I had a few problems with this one though.

First up, I found none of the characters likable. I just didn't care about them, well I kinda cared a little bit about Steven but that was only barely. I couldn't connect with them at all, I found their personalities a little bit flat. Skylar was annoying to me, but this wasn't one of my main problems, she just didn't really DO anything. As someone else stated in an earlier review, she was basically a plot point and that was it. I just found that I didn't really care what happened to her one way or another.

I had an issue with the language used, it felt like the author used more complicated words than were needed. No, I didn't have a problem understanding the words, I just found that sometimes a simpler version would have helped the flow of the writing at times. The writing itself felt a little bit disjointed and didn't flow too well, which I believe was because of the language used.

I reeeeeeaallly wanted to like this story, it had a great idea and would have worked beautifully, I just felt that the execution fell a little bit short. I'm not sure if I'll try book two yet or not, we'll see. I do have another book from a different series by this author, I am looking forward to reading it and I hope I enjoy it more.

I borrowed this book from Prime reading and really liked it. I was worried that I wouldn't like it but I love it. I know at the end I want to keep going and I feel bad that she likes the pack but can't be with them since she is a lone wolf and hates her wolf side.
