I decided to try this series after reading Meg Cabot's "1-800-Where-R-U" series and loving it. So far, this first book was good, not amazing, but I did enjoy it. The story didn't grab me as much as the other series. I love the concept of this book, a teenage girl who is a mediator for the dead, but I feel like it was underplayed. We only really see Suzie's gift show itself really through two people, Heather and Jesse, and everything else is told through us for stories, so I felt like we (the reader) miss out a bit on seeing Suzie interact with more spirits. She suggests that spirits are everywhere and she sees them all the time, but this story didn't show us that, so I was a little disappointed. Plus, I felt like the ending was a bit of a cheat for dealing with Heather, and I expected something more to come during the resolution. Overall, it was a good book and I did enjoy it, but when I ended I wasn't compelled to reach for the next book right away, which is always disappointing. I will continue reading, though, and I fully expect Meg Cabot to draw me in more and more with each book, since that is what she's done in the past.

Great start to the series and great throwback for me as I read it first 15 years ago!
It is very evident that Meg Cabot desires to write a sequel to this book. I know it's long and Suze can sometimes be very annoying but you know you have to finish it till the end... just like every book, because you want to know, you just have that ardent desire to know, perhaps what happens, perhaps how it ended... but this book, it didn't tease us but left us hanging there... with our desire to know, hence will read the next book which I know I won't anytime soon. :)
Oh Meg Cabot how I missed you. You were the first author to get me into reading and reading this brought back so many memories.
Spoiler
Suze has to move with her mom to a new place after her mom marries. Suze is now forced to fit in at a new school with her new "brothers". However, Suze can see ghosts who not many others can see. Right when they move into the new house, Suze finds a ghost in her bedroom. She asks to ghost to leave and from there it is history. Suze also finds a ghost at her school. This girl is mean and wants nothing more to make Suze's life horrible as well as her ex boyfriend's. Does Suze talk this ghost into where she is supposed to be? What about the bedroom ghost?
This was a very fun and cute book! I can't wait to read the next one.
Love this series soooo much! I read it as a teenager and could not get enough of it!
This was one of my favorite series when I was younger. Great characters, fun plot, and awesome powers!
I can't lie, I never liked this book the first time I read it.
But this weekend I read it for the second time and the character of Susannah Simon actually grew on me.
This is the first book in a series of six (I think) about Suzannah Simon - a sixteen year old girl who can talk, see and touch the undead. I really really liked this book, even if I first thought that it was created for the younger crowd - which it really isn't. I think all age groups can read this book, since it's such a easy and fun read. I definitely recommend this book to everyone, and I'm absolutely going to continue reading the Mediator series!
