My son is 13, and Anne Frank makes so much sense to me now. She’s a lot. Lol. This graphic novel adaptation of her diary is a pretty perfect way to get to know her and to see the torture of the Jews under the nazi regime through her eyes. I especially appreciated that Anne’s words and perfectly normal teenage musings were not censored in this book. The included content and accompanying illustrations are honest and respectful.

Une adaptation géniale qui rend justice au caractère d'Anne Frank, à son étonnante sagesse qui contraste avec sa naïveté d'enfant. Si les dessins remplacent souvent les mots avec justesse, ils s'éclipsent avec humilité lorsqu'ils ne peuvent leur rendre justice. Un ouvrage brillant!

Livre lu dans le cadre d’une lecture cursive scolaire sur le thème de l’autobiographie. Roman graphique très bien avec de beaux dessins et un bon texte. Je sais pas trop quoi dire surtout que je l’ai lu en 11 jours… pour pratiquement 160 pages… un roman GRAPHIQUE… bref. J’ai bien aimé l’histoire d’Anne Frank, très touchante. A lire absolument.

I read The Diary of Anne Frank when I was a teenager. I’m struck by how much I didn’t remember. This graphic novel was an amazing adaptation of Anne’s story. I think I would like to read the original book again. I’m definitely going to re-watch the 1965 movie. Anne’s diary shed some light on a dark period of history. We should all be thankful to her.

Nachdem ich „wo ist Anne frank“ gelesen hatte - und es absolut faszinierend und wahnsinnig wichtig fand - musste ich jetzt natürlich auch das Graphic Diary zum eigentlichen Anne Frank Tagebuch lesen. Und auch dieses Mal war es wieder ein absolutes Erlebnis in die Geschichte einzutauchen. Mit den ganzen Bildern und Illustrationen hat es das Ganze nochmal nahbarer und erlebbarer gemacht, und damit natürlich auch emotionaler… es war schon immer so, dass ich dieses Buch mit einem mulmigen Gefühl im Bauch weggelegt habe, und noch einige Tage/ Wochen daran denken musste. Auch jetzt, hat es mich sehr betrübt zurückgelassen, ich bin aber mehr als froh, dass es diese neue Adaption der Geschichte gibt! Ich glaube es ist super wichtig, dass auch die jüngeren Generationen sich mit der Thematik befassen, und ich hoffe, dass dies durch solche Projekte und Graphic Novels möglich wird. Wahnsinnig toll illustriert - wahnsinnig berührend und einfach mal wieder ein lohnenswertes Buch!
