Very trippy. Sure, it was all supposed to be a dream, but it reads more like the product of some pretty awesome mind-altering substances.

I mainly read this to get some background for reading The Looking Glass Wars, since I missed this one as a child.

A classic but definitely my favorite one. It‘s always a blast reading the strange dialogues and magical occurrences.

This was such a slog. I can see why they mostly use the first book in interpretations.

The level of imagination and absurdity in this book is so.... lovely 😂😂😂 Mungkin karena saya sedang berada dalam mood yang tepat, tapi rasanya seneng banget baca buku ini. Apa itu logika wkwkwk, semuanya didobrak lewat karakter-karakter, dialog-dialog, dan latar yang seolah saling tabrak nggak nyambung, tapi di saat yang sama sangat kreatif. Saya yakin (walaupun sotoy aja sih sebenarnya) Lewis Carroll sebenarnya menulis buku ini dengan keteraturan dan keahlian tingkat tinggi (??), menulis puns dan playwords yang sesuai dan menarik walau sepintas terlihat begitu chaotic.

Senangnya lagi, terjemahan oleh Djokolelono ini tetap menyisipkan beberapa permainan kata dalam bahasa aslinya yaitu Inggris, berhubung tampaknya memang susah dialihbahasakan sepenuhnya ke bahasa Indonesia. Jadi, pembaca terjemahannya tetap dapat gambaran betapa ahlinya Lewis Carroll bermain kata. Saduran sajak-sajak beliau juga disusun sedemikian rupa sehingga tetap berima dalam bahasa Indonesia, jadi mengalir sekaligus tetap gampang dicerna. Thumbs up 👍👍👍
