My god.. Aaron can go suck a big one. He is one of the most sleazy characters I have ever read.
Anastasia was holding onto a relationship that no longer served her. She gave numerous outs for Aaron and he never deserved any of them. Aaron is such an egotistical douche canoe. The why that he treated Anastasia, was so horrible. Controlling and he almost had her fooled. He had everyone fooled especially her and Coach Brady.
Moderate: Body shaming, Death of parent, Toxic friendship, and Alcohol

I liked the characters except for Aaron he was awful, and I liked the enemies to lovers trope with Nate and Anastasia. Now I like some romance in books and I don’t mind some mild spice but oh my! This book had SO much spice. It was a little too much for my liking personally. There were some things I could do without knowing. It’s probably a 4/5 in spice level with 5 being spice on every page.
I also found myself having second hand embarrassment while reading some of the scenes in this book (for example the car scene).
I did like the romance between Nate and Anastasia but I couldn’t help but think how they didn’t really have much in common except for constantly hooking up with each other, at least until Nate stepped in to help Anastasia.
Now let’s talk about Nate. I think he was my favorite character in this book. I loved how he constantly looked out for Anastasia and only wanted the best for her. He was so sweet to her and he always showed how much he loved her. Despite him having a terrible father he recognized that he didn’t want to be like him which I liked.
This book also advocates for therapy which I loved. It also talks about eating disorders so be aware if that triggers you. Overall, didn’t hate it completely but if it wasn’t so unhinged I’d have liked it more.

There is so much needless drama. If this was set in high school and everyone was about sixteen then the drama and emotional stakes would make sense. But for twenty something year olds?? Nah.
I usually listen to audiobooks on 1x. With this I kept upping the speed to make it go faster. I got to 2x (at which this book still felt slow and natural??) and then finally gave up.
This is the first booktok rec I’ve given a chance and never again tbh.
Also holy exposition and repetition back man! We learn so much about every single background character for reasons I can’t fathom. And every time the main characters are in the same scene and the POV switches we get to read the scene through both. Honestly if one POV was taken out, the book would’ve been much shorter and the quality would’ve stayed the same.
