My song for Icebreaker: Daylight by Harry Styles (and I do not dole this one out lightly)

“Looking at her makes me want to be the funniest guy in the room, so I can be the one to make her laugh.”

Icebreaker is a refreshingly cute and precious story, made all the better by beautifully drafted characters and a surprising amount of scorching hot spice.

Overall really good with some small issues. I really liked the friends and am excited to see them come back in later books. I also thought that the conflict between Satssi and her skating partner was really nuanced and well written. It makes sense that She would want to forgive him a lot for really awful behavior considering her career is at stake. I thought that this issue was good enough on its own, or in addition to Nathan’s daddy issues without tha almost drowning that was thrown in. I think that just took too much time, it wasn’t needed for either of their character development. Nathan is really patient with Stassi and her relationships, which I appreciate, but I also think that the beginning where he tries to make her jealous and ‘tie her down’ was a bit gross and definitely made it harder for me to like him at first, especially with how healthy Stassi’s first partner was. I liked him more at the beginning than Nathan. I got back into it when they started to skate together, how Nathan helped her with her fears of being lifted after her skating partner kept dropping her. The third act breakup wasn’t great but it wasn't drawn out so it was forgiven. I actually felt something when Stassi stood up to her skating partner and decided to move out and skate alone after he kissed her at their competition. And then the Epilogue lost it for me with her getting pregnant so young and her ending her career, it felt completely unnecessary. I didn't like the time skip and don’t know how it is going to work with the other books. And she never talked about really wanting a child, I would have assumed she might want to adopt like she was too. It felt like a really weird tack on. The sex scenes were good (minus them getting it on in the back of a taxi FULL OF THEIR FRIENDS).
