Icebreaker by Hannah Grace - review

3⭐️
4🌶️

What can I say this is mainly smutty spicy and a little bit of story line. But it hit the spot!
I was getting a bit slumpy and this just hit the spot perfectly to get me out of that slump and back into my summer romance era 😍.

Icebreaker is a spicy and smutty ice hockey and figure skating romance. Anastasia Allen is a figure skater at the University of California, Maple Hills. She has been working her but of for a shot at pair skating for team USA. Nate Hawkins is the captain of the ice hockey team. But due to a little mishap they are forced to share a rink with the figure skaters, including Anastasia. What will happen if they are forced together…

Did this book have a plot? Not really! Did it change my life and brain composition? No… Did I enjoy it? Yesss immensely 🤩
This book had me giggling, kicking my feet and the romance is just soo cute

The romance is immediate attraction and Stassie and Nate are just soo cute together. Love their relationship 💕

There is also some mental health representation, benefits of therapy and good communication which are just soo good to show in a romance.

Overall if you are into spicy romance and not a lot of plot, but just a lot of vibes and cute characters then definitely check this book out. Also kind of reminded me of the smut on wattpad ifykyk 😂.

Note: I gave this book 3⭐️, because I just can’t give a romance with not a lot of plot and a lot of spice like this any higher. I really enjoyed it still, but it feels wrong 🫣

I was so prepared to give this four stars but I'm now struggling between 2 and 3. Honestly, I feel like I enjoyed this a lot- like it was thorough entertainment. But I was hoping for a lot more in terms of the story's structure, especially considering the synopsis. I assumed that the inciting conflict summarized in the blurb would be pretty early into the book, but it didn't happen until around the 60% mark? I was hoping that this conflict would give like forced-proximity, rivals to lovers, however- by the time this conflict occurred, the characters had already established a physical and emotional relationship with one another. It unfortunately for me- took some tension out of that plot point, and the pacing can drag a little. But man, can these heteros fuck.

These two main characters are seriously gettin' it on like- every second chapter. Sometimes you get it from both POVs. In the bedroom, in the Uber, in the bar bathroom, in the childhood home, on the kitchen counter with nutella whipped cream and strawberry sundae sauce, they are truly pucking like bunnies- for sure.

There are also an INSANE, I mean just FLABBERGASTING number of side characters in this. Many times it was incredibly hard to keep up with the names being thrown around. Unfortunately, some of their appearances and dialogue were so frequent- that some of these characters lost their charm and really annoyed me terribly (sorry Henry stans).

Anyways this was at the end of the day- silly goofy lalalala girly fun, and I loved it.
