“Loneliness makes it hard to see the bigger pioture. It makes you self-obsessed; not out of narcissism but because your own self is all you have. Your flaws, quirks, regrets, and mistakes begin to engulf you.
Your own self begins to overshadow that bigger picture, but there Is always a bigger picture”
First foray into graphic novels ever. Loved how the art kept changing. Funny, sad, hopeful, and yes…RELATABLE

Rating an autobiography is a little odd but this was fantastic. The graphics were amazing & the depiction of depression was the most accurate I have read. Stories like this allow the millions of us grappling with depression to not feel so alone.

A creative, funny, dark, reflective autobiographical graphic novel.
Breaking the 4th wall almost constantly, this is an interesting graphic novel that uses visual form creatively to show the authors struggles with depression. It includes interesting and funny anecdotes from childhood, and has a focus on 6 months of the authors life in 2021. Made me laugh and feel satisfied at the end.

Holy hot damn. I read this while listening to the Into the Trees album by Zoë Keating and it might have nearly been a religious experience.

I enthusiastically loved this. It was dark but genuine. The visual imagery of the worms crawling from the skin, the various forms of the self, were incredible ways to represent the authors internal struggles. She subverts expectations every few pages, constantly pivoting from the narrative in a way that I have no doubt she hated and criticized herself for but that actually works beautifully because anyone who has been there before as a creative can immediately understand that cognitive wrestling back and forth with how to say something. The multimedia approach was also insanely impressive.
I've never wanted so badly to reach through the page and talk to the author before. I hope if I was able to be a little less critical of myself, less ashamed of my darkness, and put less pressure on myself to be amazing or perfect that she can do the same with time.
