This was incredible. One of the best and most original graphic texts I’ve read in years.

I…gotta sit with this one for a couple days. Have some of my fav passages

“It would be bold of me to assume I’m making it past 65. Even on beautiful days like this one, it feels impossible to imagine a future where I don’t kill myself.”
———————————————————————————————
“I’m so lucky. My whole life I’ve been so lucky.” But I spent so many formative years believing I was the selfish and evil person I was told I was, that I think I became it. And now I’m stuck as this person, and can’t get out. It’s my responsibility to change. And I don’t. I get it. I deserve my suffering now-but she didn’t. I was a child dealing with complex things I couldn’t communicate.”
——————————————————————————————
“If today you so much as earnestly asked someone if they were okay, your impact on this world is already phenomenal.”

“People don’t leave you because you’re sad. They leave because being sad is all you care to be. You want to know the answer? You want to know why you can’t be happy?

You. Don’t. Want. To. Be.”

theme + story are good, but the delivery + style just didn't really work for me :(

In my pace to find another graphic novel to read today, i came upon this one which caught my attention because of the cover. Im gonna be honest and say that maybe this is not for me:,) i found it hard to connect with the pages almost 80% of the way. There were just a few (around 5pages) that I kept and really resonated with but the rest was just too dark i guess for my taste. I accept though that maybe this is the author’s way of expressing herself- experimental and edgy.
