I took so many quotes from this book. It was short, but impactful, and had a good mix of narrative storytelling of the women and the cases surrounding them, and incorporated the quotes from the time seamlessly. 

The facts, stats, legal jargon, acts and case law was juggled really well whilst being presented amongst a much more free flowing text telling the stories for tens of women whose landmark cases paved the way for law reform, despite many of them not living to see the changes. 

I really enjoyed the mix of tone, and spent much of the book astounded by the sorry state of women's rights in the 19th century, and before.
